Belleek CCE
Erne Music Club began in October 2001 with 6 children and has gone from strength to strength. It currently has 40 children attending weekly music classes to learn to play traditional music on a wide variety of instruments. We have always had an open door policy and accept any child over 6 years of age. Music classes are affordable and accessible to all members of the local community which is cross community and cross border. Children from a wide catchment area enjoy meeting other’s who attend different schools – without this music class many would not have had the opportunity to meet.
Belleek CCE branch was established in January 2007 and has 140 registered members. Many teachers have brought their expertise and handed on tunes to the children over the past 17 years. The branch currently has 2 teachers – Michelle Gallagher & Anthony Gordon. Michelle from Glenfarne, Co Leitrim was the original teacher of Erne Music Club, Belleek from 2001 to 2006. Anthony is the son of legendary fiddle player John Joe Gordon – the branch held an annual festival each year in his memory with the 10th and final year being in December 2016. The branch AGM takes place in October each year and new members are always welcome. Regular music sessions are held in local venues throughout the year. This year we are very proud that a branch member Aoife O Reilly returned from Drogheda with an All Ireland medal in the 12 -15 singing.
