Derrylin CCE

The Derrylin Branch of CCE was formed over 50 years ago to promote Irish music and culture in the east Fermanagh area. The first branch was formed in 1961 and was known as the Derrylin Branch of Comhalthas Ceoltoiri Eireann, it was the first permanent branch in County Fermanagh.  A Branch had been formed earlier in the Roslea area but was no longer in existence by that time.On the 7th January 1963 the first Fermanagh County Board meeting was held in the Erne Ballroom, Derrylin (now known as the Mountview  Bar/Lounge).  By that time there were five branches in the County. The Derrylin Branch thrived for several years and on Thursday 13th June 1963 hosted the First County Demonstration under the auspices of Fearmonach comhaltar Ceoltoiri Eireann in the Gaelic Park Derrylin. From all accounts it was a hugely successful and enjoyable event.  After a lapse of several years the branch reformed in 1993 and was known as the Knockninny C.C.E branch.  This branch existed until 1998.

In 2001 the current  Derrylin CCE. banch was formed, our members are drawn from the Teemore, Derrylin and  surrounding area.  Derrylin CCE. is dedicated to the promotion of  traditional Irish music, song, dance and culture.  To achieve our aim we hold regular meetings and  music sessions.  Music classes are held every Wednesday in St Ninnidhs Hall from 7.30pm—9.30pm by Aileen Fitzpatrick and we encourage all our members to participate in Fleadhanna Cheoil. Derrylin hosted the Fleadh Cheoil Fhear Manach in 2003 and we were honoured to be chosen to host again in 2013 which coincides with the 50th anniversary of  the first County Board meeting. We are also delighted to announce that we hosting the Fermanagh Fleadh 2019 which will take place from 7th-9th June.
